Child Support in Michigan is calculated based on the Michigan Child Support Guidelines.  The Child Support Guidelines are a complex formula requiring extensive information.  The most relevant information used is the parties income (both) and the amount of overnights.  Effectively, the more overnight someone has the less child support they pay.  Also, the more someone earns, the more child support will be ordered.  The guidelines require that you impute the following:

1.  Marital Status in Filing Taxes (married, single, Head of household)

2.  Number of Children.

3.  Amount of Daycare.

4.  Amount of owner nights each parent has (Not what the judgment states.  Actual overnights).

5.  Income of the Plaintiff and Defendant (you get a deduction for healthcare costs etc..)

6. Second Family deduction (If you have other children).

The computer programs are available online to calculate support exactly.
